Maz Zōv Kez (/maz/ /zoːv/ [miniature] [screen; curtain; veil; umbrella]) is a subtropical Town located in the Yi̽dvdro Diocese of the Covenent of Irus.

The name Maz Zōv Kez is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Maz Zōv Kez was founded by Vonnus Agondren, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Maz Zōv Kez has a yearly average temperature of 19°C (66°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 10°C (50°F). Maz Zōv Kez receives an average of 151 cm/y (59 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Maz Zōv Kez covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 2994 m (9822 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Maz Zōv Kez was founded durring the early 9th century, by Vonnus Agondren. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Vonnus Agondren.

Maz Zōv Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the early 9th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Maz Zōv Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Maz Zōv Kez is buildings folow an organic layout of narrow split-log ties streets whihch gives the town a shape simmilar to a tree, if one views its streets from above. The town posesses a fortified albit thin wall of querried stone. This wall posesses most of the features of a castle wall, though it is constructed from cheeper inferior stone. It would pose a minor chalange for an attacking army, though it's clear the wall's true purpose is to crush the hopes of bandits and marauders. Maz Zōv Kez's failry decent fortifications are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

Maz Zōv Kez has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Maz Zōv Kez ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Even with that as it is, everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or much of both. The town should be gone, not dying. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring just long enough for it to be uncomfortable.

Maz Zōv Kez has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Maz Zōv Kez.

Maz Zōv Kez has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Maz Zōv Kez has a Guild of Nurses, which is tasked with caring for the elderly and infirm in accordance with local ordinances, religious values, and customs.

Maz Zōv Kez has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Maz Zōv Kez has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Maz Zōv Kez's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Maz Zōv Kez possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Maz Zōv Kez's grid is powered by an arcane means.

Maz Zōv Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Maz Zōv Kez has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Maz Zōv Kez's citizens locals enjoy many vices and lustful appetites. They may have religious sanction for their deeds, or neighbors might trade with them for such things, or they could be followers of some ideology that blesses such pursuits. Their economy or their social organization is usually heavily reliant on such traffic, and to ensure its continuance they may have made bargains with various mortal and immortal powers.

Maz Zōv Kez's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is based upon new and innovative technologies of construction and the idea that form should follow function. It was an embrace of minimalism and a rejection of ornament. The style became characterized by an emphasis on volume, asymmetrical compositions, and minimal ornamentation..

In Maz Zōv Kez during thunderstorms, with each flash of lightning, everyone sees different monsters from the corner of their eyes.

The Stegocentipede near Maz Zōv Kez are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Maz Zōv Kez's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves line dance to channel Enchantment energies of tier 3 via proclamations.
